We’ve learned about organizations as systems, pressures from the external environment and how each organization has a culture. It’s now
time for you to analyze a successful company and consider these aspects.

Answer the following questions, as completely as possible, and post your answers to theOrganizational Culture – An Assignment

1). Imagine that you are a management consultant hired by Google to help them plan for future environmental changes. First, describe
the elements of the macroenvironment and competitive environment that currently impact Google. Then describe elements that you
anticipate will impact Google over the next several years.
2). Describe the organization’s culture. Discuss how the current culture affects the way it responds to its organization’s environment.
3). Outline a set of steps that describe changes that the organization needs to make to its current culture to meet upcoming challenges
in the external environment. Consider competitors (for example the recent marketing blitz MicroSoft has begun for its “Bing” search
engine) and the changing needs of customers (as an example mobile computing).
Once you have posted your Organizational Culture assignment, read and respond to at least one other student’s posting. Provide feedback
to the student on what you liked about the posting, what you didn’t like, and suggestions for improving the post.

Once you have reviewed the tutorial, view the following video, created by a student group, to highlight the major strengths of the

Then read the following Fast Company article (and view the embedded video) describing some potential threats and weakness areas for
McDonald’s: Competition: How McDonald’s Will Kill Itself Killing Starbucks . Also, view the following video clip and see if you can
glean some additional weaknesses or threats: Super Size Me Opening
Also, browse the web for other articles/videos that may help you better understand possible McDonald’s Strengths, Weaknesses,
Opportunities, and Threats.
After viewing the videos, reading the articles and browsing the web, list at least 5 Strengths, 5 Weaknesses, 5 Opportunities and 5
Threats that pertain to McDonald’s. Additionally, based on the Business Plan Tips video, identify whether each SWOT item would be
considered high or low probability and high or low impact. Based on your findings, what three SWOT items would you recommend McDonald’s
use to help create their strategic planning?
Once you have posted your SWOT assignment, read and respond to at least one other student’s posting. Provide feedback to the student on
what you liked about the posting, what you didn’t like, and suggestions for improving the post.

choices (and have thus suffered as a result). Now it’s time for you to critically think about what you have learned. Write a summary
paper addressing the following critical thinking questions. Upload your answers in a Word document or type your answers directly into
the drop box. (Quality is more important than quantity)
1) Is it important for organizations, managers, employees to practice sound ethical decision making? Why or why not?
2) What are the 4 types of corporate social responsibilities by business and should all organizations practice all 4 types? Why or why
not?
3) In what ways can society assist organizations/managers/employees meet its social obligations?

After viewing the video, list 2 good reasons you see for being an entrepreneur and 2 not so good reasons. Consider what you’ve read in
the chapters and viewed on-line as well as your own experiences in the working world.
