Discussion 5
For this Discussion, review Chapters 7 and 8 from your course text. Consider what kinds of funding sources the development organizations
discussed in these chapters use. Think about how funding might affect the ability to implement their desired programs. Consider whether the
goals of the organization may affect these factors. Think about the goals of the organization you have chosen for the Final Project. Think
about how it is funded. Consider how your chosen organization might fit into the framework built by the authors of the course text.
Post by Day 3 an explanation of how your organization is funded. In your explanation, address the role of funding organizations in determining
the goals of your chosen organization. Then, explain the mechanisms that are in place to allow funders to evaluate how programs are implemented
by the organization align with its overall goals. Explain how funders determine whether the programs implemented by the organization align with
its overall goals.

Discussion 8
For this Discussion, read the report The Challenges Leaders Face Around the World: More Similar than Different from this week’s resources.
Consider some of the common themes that leaders face in different parts of the world. Think about how managers of international organizations
can take into account these themes when managing their organizations. Then review Chapter 14 in the course text. Consider the following:
1. The challenges to human resources management in international organizations
2. Whether such challenges are substantively different from those in purely domestic organizations
3. How these challenges relate to the issues of cross-cultural management
4. How the organization you selected for the Final Project demonstrates cross-cultural management
Post by Day 3 an explanation of how your organization models cross-cultural leadership. In your explanation, address whether or not the
organization includes cross-cultural leadership in its planning and evaluation and why. Also, explain if the overall mission of the
organization requires that the organization practice a cross-cultural management or leadership model.

Discussion 11
For this Discussion, think back to the first week and review your goals for the course. Think about what you learned from the course and from
the Final Project. With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 3 an explanation of the one most important thing that you learned in the course. Also, explain how you will implement the ideas you
have learned about transformational leadership in international organizations after you leave this course and why. Finally, explain if studying
the challenges of international organizations changed how you think about attempts to solve global problems.
Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings.
Respond by Day 6 to at least two of your colleagues’ postings in one or more of the following ways:
• Explain how your colleague’s choice of most important thing compares with your choice.
• Explain whether there is a common trend in the answers that your colleagues are posting.
• Explain what you can learn from what your colleagues see as the key parts of the course.
