Communicators are responsible for being prepared and ethical. Being prepared includes being organized, clear, concise, and punctual. Being ethical includes being egalitarian, respectful, and trustworthy, and overall, practicing the “golden rule”.

DISCUSSION TOPIC:

Provide an example of a situation you experienced, or are aware of (no need to “name names”), where the communicator did not hold up to his/her responsibilities.

Briefly describe what happened? (Explain the circumstances.) How could the situation have been avoided? (Explain areas of communication that were lacking, and be sure to use/apply concepts from the textbook.) If you were the communicator, what would you have done differently under the circumstances? (Considering the context, and audience, etc.)
