Distance zones
COURSE TEXT
Henslin, James M. 2014. Sociology: A Down-to-Earth Approach, 12th edition. Boston: Pearson Publishing

Visit a local mall or a similar public place where large numbers of people congregate for a variety of reasons. Make a
chart that lists Hall’s “distance zones” from chapter 4 of your text. Wander around for an hour or so to observe human
interaction. List the interactions observed under the proper distance zones.
Please Include Chart in submission

1. Type your chart and include it in your submission. This chart should consist of the detailed interactions you observed,
not mere numbers or general definitions of distance zones.

2. Summarize your findings in a report.

3. Which distance zones were most represented? Why?

4. Which were the least represented? Why?

Provide as many details as possible in your report and analysis.

Minimum Word Count: Remember that all written assignments should be a minimum of 500 words (excluding assignment
instructions). Submissions of fewer than 500 words will receive grades of zero.
