EDUCATION FOUNDATIONS

Addresses learning outcome(s):
1. explain the relation between human development and the development of educational theory;
2. identify the assumptions which underlie the various perspectives of education and their associated theories of learning
Using the theory and evidence presented through lectures and readings, as well as your own research, write an essay in which you analyse your own learning processes, using the theories and evidence as a lens with which you discuss conditions for effective learning over time. The aims are: (1) to transform your understandings of your own learning characteristics over time; and in the process, (2) to describe, analyse and critique the content in this unit. You will use a chronological (past, present, future) structure for your essay, and you are encouraged to use first person when describing your own learning processes. Word limit: 2000 words.
The assessment criteria for this assignment are:
Academic literacy – the content is well prepared and presented, using Standard English.
Critical analysis – Makes clear connections between learning theory and personal experiences
Intellectual Depth – the content shows deep understanding and problematising of content, possibly including elements of originality.
