Although innovation as a concept could be viewed as vague and somewhat immeasurable by definition, Buller offers guidance on what practices and attitudes directly contribute to a culture of innovation as well as what practices and attitudes block innovation at institutions of higher education.
To prepare:
Review academic journal articles and professional higher education websites for examples of a culture of innovation or creativity exhibited in higher education leadership.
Identify the “innovation killers” and “innovation midwives” as presented in pages 148–150 in Chapter 6 of your course text.

Then, write a position statement on how you think a leader in the higher education environment should proceed with building a true culture of innovation. Include what innovation means in the higher education context and what implications its absence and presence has on the future of a higher education institution.
