The research proposal will involve both a written report and short oral presentation on your proposed topic of investigation.
•   Choose a major related subject, which you might wish to investigate. For example:
o   Business – Recruiting Emiratis to work in private industry. Why do Emiratis resist working in the private sector? What my business do recruit more Emiratis?
o   Business – Tourism and entertainment. Tourism is becoming an increasingly important industry in the UAE. What can be done to improve the experience of tourists visiting the UAE?
o   Engineering – What are public attitudes towards renewable energy? What public concerns need to be addressed in order to win public support for renewable energy projects.
o   Business/Engineering – Are people in the UAE satisfied with the telecommunications services, which are available to them? How might Internet and mobile phone services be improved to meet consumer needs?
o   Media –Providing culturally appropriate programming. Are people living in the region satisfied with the sorts of programs available? How would they like programming to change to be more culturally appropriate?

•   Write a proposal which includes:
o   A justification of the topic. State why you think this topic is worth investigating. How might the information gained be used to make improvements in the area of business or industry?
o   A description of the research methods.
?   The manner of information gathering
•   Questionnaires (oral, paper, email).
•   Interviews (structured, open)
•   Provide at least 2 sample questions.
?   The population (visitors, hotel employees, members of the public)
?   Sampling (random, accidental)
?   Collecting the data

o   Challenges. Mention any particular problems you might encounter as you conduct your research.
Report
The report should be about 500 words and include the following sections:

Methods
Challenges

The presentation should last between 5 and 10 minutes. As well, you should use presentation software such as PowerPoint. Cover the main points of your report.
