Embryo selection in in-vitro selection

Embryo selection in in-vitro selection

Reviewer # 1
This review has for aim to compare several methods used for embryo selection in IVF process.
However, the current statment should be to use the different methods in association according to the medical context rather than to compare them.
This review provides a few number of references whereas the literature is very rich on this topic. We suggest to further the literature search.

The manuscript would benefit from English language editing.

Title: Please change the title because it is not a catchy title.

Abstract should be completely re-written.
-Indeed please change “to treat fertility and genetic problems”, IVF is not a treatment.
-“The success of IVF depends majorly on the embryo selection, the age of the gestational carrier and the cause of infertility”: this statment is not correct. For instance, endometrial receptivity is another factor to influence IVF success.
-“About 30% of embryo resulting from IVF treatments have abnormal chromosome, and this percentage may rise up to 60% with poor embryo selection.” What is your reference?
-Change this expression “modern selection méthods”: they are new non-invasive approaches to select embryos.

Indeed, a lot of studies focus on the development of new approaches in IVF procedure in order to increase implantation and pregnancy rates. Actually, 85% of embryos generated by IVF procedure and selected by conventionnal morphological evaluation lead to implantation failure. This is a reliable problem.

-Methods: it is not an exhaustive scientific research. Please complete it with another publications.
-“From the results, one can judge that morphokinetics is the best model due to its high precision” Are you sure? because actually morphokinetic approach is associated with a lack of standardisation. Each IVF center should determine its algorithm which could be used in IVF daily practice.

Introduction: This section describs IVF procedure instead of explaining the problematic.

Method of literature selection: This paragraph is too long. Please summarize it in a few lines.

Result of literature study: This section is descriptive and the results are not discussed.
Why do you include morphokinetic approach in OMICs technology?
This section should be clearly up. Please be more consistent.

Metabolite Profiling to determine embryo viability: There are a lack of references. For example please include the search from Seli et al.

In conclusion, please explain which is the added value of the different invasive and non invasive approches in embryo selection. Each approach could help this selection according to the infertility cause.
