Enabling Others to Act

For this assignment I must answer all these questions and then reflect on them. Please include all the questions. I will upload these documents with the questions and my answers for each in clear answers and directions:
1. Think of a time when, as a direct result of something a leader said, you felt personally powerful and capable. Write down the actions that leader took that directly lead to you feeling powerful, strong, capable and effective- the master of your own experience. Be as specific as you can. I felt powerful when a Nursing Leader had asked me what my plans for the future was and if I had considered management. She was very much looking for me to take on a more active role in management. 2. Now think of a time when you felt powerless, weak, and insignificant as a result of something a leader did or said. What specifically did he or she do? I felt incredibly powerless when a leader told those of us without children should let those with children have first choice in getting summer vacation.
3. Recall a time when you were part of a team that “just clicked” – a time when it seemed that everyone on the team worked together smoothly and effortlessly. Describe how people acted toward one another and what the leader did or said that contributed to make the team work. I feel that the time I spent working on working to get our Perioperative Documentation electronic and the team I worked with as a favorite time. Our leader made sure all areas were represented PreOp, IntraOp, PostOp, Anesthesia and OR Scheduling. We all valued each other and our individual expertise in the process and felt extremely comfortable asking questions to each other where our ideas crossed paths. It lead to an extremely successful role out of the Electronic record for the Perioperative area.
4. How can you enable others to feel powerful and avoid diminishing their personal effectiveness? I believe in supporting them with their initiatives. Ask them for their input and expertise.
