a) A pulley system is shown below. The radii of the two pulley’s are 0.5m ; mass 3kg, and 2.om mass;
12kg. Find the length of the drive belt.

b) i) If the angular velocity of the large pulley was 6 radians per second determine the velocity of a
point on its rim and hence the velocity of the smaller pulley.
ii) Determine the centripetal acceleration and centripetal force experienced by the small pulley.
iii) At time (t) = 0 seconds, the initial angular velocity of the large pulley is 7 rads/sec. Determine
the angular acceleration of the small pulley when the angular velocity of the large pulley is
increased to 12 rads/sec when time (t) = 25 seconds.
