 Fluency: your ability to respond to an issue in multiple connected paragraphs.
 Thesis: your ability to focus your thoughts into a written thesis statement or main
idea that clearly addresses the given topic.
 Organization: your ability to clearly organize your thoughts around the main idea.
 Development: your ability to thoroughly illustrate or explain your idea in writing.
 Coherence: your ability to connect your written thoughts smoothly from sentence
to sentence and paragraph to paragraph.
 Control: your ability to successfully manage the rules of basic written English.
 Style: your sophistication of ideas, sentence structure and word selection.
In many social situations, it’s quite appropriate to ask someone what he or she does for a living. However, in some foreign cultures this is considered rude because it too closely identifies a person with his or her occupation.
