Environmental and occupational health hazards may be managed in different settings, such as government and private settings, in order to protect the public and workforce from environmental exposures.
In this CA you will address public health at the government level from a historical perspective: 1) Discuss the accomplishments of the U.S. public health system at reducing public health impacts from hazards associated with public environmental exposures and occupational health hazards. 2) Examine what brought about these successes, particularly at the local health department level. 3) Select 3 areas that can be improved in environmental health programs.

805D Fourth Paper
The SLP for this course is based on a manufacturing company of your choice. The facility employs at least 75 workers. You are the Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Manager for this company. Your task is to develop aspects of a health and safety program that addresses worker injury and illness prevention, as well as environmental health and safety protection.
The Centers for Diseases Control (CDC) and Prevention has designed a six-step model for conducting program evaluation. It is described in Healey, B.J. Walker, K.T. (2009), on page 271 and Figure 15.1. Apply the CDC model to this scenario and identify the six steps you would follow for evaluating the effectiveness of the injury and illness prevention program in the occupational setting you chose for your SLP. For each step, explain the process and illustrate how you would evaluate your program, with specific examples.
