For paper four, please choose a topic related to world affairs/international relations in the late 20th or early 21st century and write a 1200 to 1500word researched argument. Possibilities include nuclear proliferation, rogue states such as North Korean, Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Brexit, effect of global warming on international shipping and land rights in the Arctic, and on and on.
This paper is not a report but an argument; you must advance a thesis. That thesis, however, does not necessarily have to involve taking a side in the conflict itself. Something like “for all these reasons, negotiating fair trade treaties will continue to be a major item on the US agenda for at least the next three decades” would also work.
This assignment requires that you cite at least five outside sources including at least three peer-reviewed, scholarly journal articles and at least two articles from reputable general interest publications of national standing. The first draft requires three of these sources. All sources must be used fairly and incorporated skillfully into your own argument. If you have any questions about whether or not a source is appropriately scholarly, please ask me or a librarian.This paper requires a Works Cited page in MLA format.
We will also be completing an annotated bibliography of the sources in this assignment. An annotated bibliography encompasses, for each research source, a properly formatted Works Cited entry and a brief summary of the sources, as well as an indication of how it will be used in the paper.
