Ethics

Paper instructions:
Good afternoon here is the second discussion question for this week. Over the last two weeks we have talked about ethics and how they impact research. Review the following.

Several years ago I was the lead evaluator on a juvenile drug court grant. Each week I would observe the youth. One afternoon, I was sitting near the smoking area, just in earshot of the youth. I listed to them talk about how they were able to fool the drug test while participating in the program. As a evaluator what should I do? Do I report the youth or in my evaluation report list this as a opportunity.

Here is a second example. I was conducting Aids research and part of my job was to interview and observe participants with the treatment regiment. During one of my observations, a young lady was preparing for a new drug. During her prep she was supposed to take x vitamins 4 times a day for a month. The vitamin bottle had a chip that tracked when the bottle was open. During one of my observations I noticed that she only opened and shut the cap. She did not actually take the vitamins.

In both of these situations we are required to make ethical decisions.

QUESTION- As observers should we interact or change the enviroment?

TOPIC 9

This month you are working on the qualitative interview. Briefly share you approach to developing your questions. Is your interview short or long? Which question do you feel is the most important? Why is this? THE bottom line what questions would you ask during an interview if the question was about gays and lesbians in the army! Please also refer to the declaration of independence. That all men are created equal. Each topic I only need one page written thanks..
