Review the APA ethical guidelines for psychological assessment, clinical work, and research with human and animal subjects. Identify recurring themes in these various ethical guidelines. Why is adhering to ethical guidelines important for psychologists? Explain how these guidelines address special populations and multicultural issues. How could they be improved to better serve multicultural populations?
Comment on the following “Ethical Dilemma”: You are studying gender differences and obedience. In your study, the obedience of male and female participants is recorded after being given instructions from male vs. female researchers. What would be the disadvantages of being truthful about the real purpose for the study? If deception is used to get the necessary data, do you think this deception is ethical? Why or Why not? In other words, does the end (obtaining the data needed to form a valid conclusion) justify the means (Deceptive practices)?
