Family business
1. Family businesses present a number of unique ethical situations. What happens when the tension of family dynamics collides with the pressure of capitalist market forces? How do you fire your mother? How does a nice teenager end up in the back room of an ice cream parlor sniffing nitrous- oxide from the whipped cream tank?

1- In your opinion, which of the five segments presents the most ethically compromised situation for the family (or families) involved?
2- Why are family businesses unique? What may be some ethical situations that arise from the combination of family ties and private enterprise?
3- Does your family run a business? Have you ever worked with a family business? Have any friends that have a family business? Ever patronized a family owned business? Describe a personal experience you have had with a family business, addressing the ethical tensions between family motivations and the profit motivation. (for question number 3 you can use your imagination)
