1. present a plan ofcare of a patient with a specific, assigned disease based on assessment, development, culture, and evidence based practice of that disease
2. explore current research in the medical care of assigned childhood disease
3. plan teaching for a child and parent in relation to two aspects of care for the assigned disease
4. develop two test questions in relation to assigned disease
Instructions:
1. Choose a childhood disease that you have encountered during your clinical rotation. The disease may be a primary diagnosis or secondary diagnosis, based on
what you have encountered. A congenital or genetic disorder would be ideal. Email Ms. Buchholz with two choices and you will be assigned one of them (this is to avoid
duplication)
2. Present a plan of care utilizing nursing process: what is the basic assessment for this child with this disease? What developmental changes would one see? Are
there cultural considerations? Choose a nursing diagnosis and at least 5 nursing interventions with rationales. You must use textbooks or articles or web based
information.
3. Is there current research being done medically with his disease? If so, briefly state.
4. What are two areas you can teach the child and/or family and/or parents in regards to their care?
5. Develop two test questions in relation to this disease and develop a powerpoint presentation with these questions, include answers and rationales.
6. Write the above in a two page paper, following APA guidelines and include references.
