Assignment 1.
Write a 4 page (double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font) paper on critically analyze Federal-State
relations.
Points to be covered/ Tasks
Introduction;
1. Capture the interest of the reader. Perhaps you can do this by pointing out a puzzle that we
don’t yet understand or a controversy in current scholarship. Perhaps you can draw on the normative
importance of your topic and get the reader into the subject – matter.
2. Develop 5-8 research questions; how would you address the questions?
Literature review;
1. Explain, analyze and discuss the types of federalism; how they changed from dual – cooperative
– coercive. What is the current situation; Federal-Texas relation.
In analyzing this part; situate your research questions within the literature and show how your project
moves. What other scholars argue. It should not deviate from the topic; A literature review should not
be merely a technical reporting of what has been done before, but a creative organization of past work
that helps to frame and build your argument.
(Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other
facebook to not qualify as academic resources).
Argument/Hypothesis;
Drawing on your literature review, you must explain your argument to your reader clearly and fully.

The Conclusion:
In the conclusion, you should accomplish these goals:
1. Summarize your paper; What did you argue and what did the evidence show?
2. Discuss directions for future research. Did your analysis raise new questions?
3. Explain why your work was important. How did it advance scholarship and normative goals
