B. Establish credibility/Relate to audience: why are you the person to speak about this subject
C. Reveal topic: must introduce the topic (specific purpose)
D. Preview the main points: thesis statement/central idea; what points do you plan to cover in the speech
IV. References
A. Minimum of three: only one of these can be from a website
B. Cite sources: must cite sources at least twice within the speech
C. Copy/Print information from sources; highlight information in the source; turn in
V. Outlines
A. Preparation: this is the longer version; must be in complete sentences; everything labeled
B. Speaking: this is the shortened version; contains some sentences, but mainly keywords and phrases to jog memory
