This assignment will be used as the basis for the final assignment. The two assessment items are linked( I
attach the two assessment may it will help ) and based on you articulating a workplace challenge that
you will use to complete the assessment tasks.
As the focus of the course is on building capacity leadership in organization. In the 21st century
professional workplaces are continuously evolving. Such workplaces constantly face challenges that
require innovative and creative solutions and call on the initiative of the leaderswithin the organization.
All the work in this course will focus on both organizational theory and leadership as they relate to
21st century workplaces and to the operational challenges faced.
The clear articulation of the workplace challenge is a key element inresolving this situation. The
articulation, resolution and leadership considerations will form the basis for your final assignment.
Step 1: Articulating the Workplace Challenge
Essentially your workplace challenge should consider the following:
1. What is the purpose of /need for the change your organization?
2. Within the confines of your role in the organization – what will your focus be in your
assignment (conceptualization of the challenge)?
3. Clearly articulate the challenge of your organization.
4. Where does leadership fit – leadership theory?
5. What leadership framework emerges from this?
Step 2:Post your challenge on the BBLearn
You need to send me or post your workplace challenge abstract (one or two paragraphs) along with
twoor three questions that to you seem to emerge from this challenge. Make sure you place this in the
Forum provide on the BB Learn for Initial posting of the workplace challenge. This will enable all the
students to read your challenge and provide some brief feedback.
Step 3: Assignment 2: The Workshop /Presentation
Select a mini topic/theme that is a component (theme or topic) of your larger workplace challenge
paper and develop a presentation on which you will run a workshop/presentation. The theme/topic
selected should be one part of the broader workplace challenge – an area that you would like to discuss
the others in your group, gaining feedback.
The format for your presentation will be negotiable. Typically a stimulus (including questions to prompt
discussion) is posted into the designated discussion forum in the form of a short PowerPoint , a word
document, images or link to your own website. There is no expectation that you will use any
particular electronic format – as long as the stimulus posted is accessible to the other students
working in your group.
You will note that the assessment of this component of the course is based on:
• your organisation of the seminar/workshop;
• the quality of the stimulus you propose;
• the presentation of the stimulus,
• the discussion you generate and manage;
• the brief synopsis you prepare at the end of the week; and
• the leadership framework you present in response to the challenge.
What this then means is that each student within your group will be running one discussion topic within
the designated closed discussion forum i.e. if there are 5 people in your group, there will be 5 topics
running concurrently.
Word Limit for Synthesis
We anticipate several paragraphs – somewhere between 300- 500 words in addition to the leadership
framework.
