Florida Prescription Drug Abuse Intervention
The purpose of this assignment is to explore the impact of prescription drug abuse in Florida in a scholarly paper. This paper will require the student to narrow the focus to a specific population or area of interest, in this case, neonates and pregnant women in Florida.
Select and describe one intervention or treatment program aimed at reducing the impact of prescription drug abuse on a population/area in Florida, in this case Florida’s Roadmap to End Prescription Drug Abuse Epidemic by Florida Attorney General Pamela Jo Bondi(https://myfloridalegal.com/webfiles.nsf/WF/KGRG-8SFPN5/$file/CongressionalTestimony.pdf). Prepare your paper in 800 words, using a minimum of 3 peer reviewed references. Keep in mind that a paper in APA format prohibits the use of personal pronouns (I, you, we, us, me, etc). Do not use quotations. Make every effort to use descriptive words that accurately convey your meaning.
All papers in this course require formative feedback to enable “process writing”. We will also use “Turnitin”, which is a plagiarism tool. You will be able to submit your formative paper to Turnitin at the same time you submit your paper to the faculty. Turnitin will identify sentences that have been found on the web (including other student papers). Anything that is not properly cited must be revised before you submit for summative evaluation. It is expected that you will revise your paper to achieve < 10% match for the summative evaluation.

a. Describe a population or area impacted by prescription drug abuse in Florida, including the cultural considerations.
b. Identify the magnitude of the problem using credible sources.
c. Include a thesis statement, or purpose of the paper.
2. Body
a. Describe an intervention or treatment program designed to reduce the impact of this problem. The review of literature should expand upon the course readings.
b. Define the solution(s) using the literature and credible sources.
c. Use a minimum of 3 peer reviewed, current (< 5 yrs) references
3. Conclusion
a. Make a recommendation for action based on the strongest evidence.
4. Style
a. Carefully proof read your paper for effective use of language, without errors in grammar and spelling. Ensure there are appropriate transitions from one section to the next. Avoid use of slang and avoid meaningless phrases (see APA, Ch 4).
b. Use APA format to set up paper, citations in body of the paper, and the reference list.
