Assignment: Formal and Visual Analysis
In this course, we have focused intensively on the technique of formal analysis. Your project is to subject TWO IMAGES to the process of formal analysis. Your images can be chosen from the attached list on the following pages. This list is composed of images we have already analyzed in class or discussed on Learning Logs. You should also feel free to use any other images we have studied in class, but you must restrict your choices to pieces we have looked at in class.
You must formally analyze both images and then compare the visual strategies used by the artists to create both pieces. Do the images use similar visual elements and principles of design? How are they the same? How different? What overall result do these similarities or differences have for the images?
Aim as much as possible for clarity in your writing.
