Format report

As part of this course, you will be writing a formal report which will be due in Week 8. The formal report’s scenario will be that the company you are working for has decided to open a branch in a foreign country, where English is not a first language. You have been asked to conduct research and find out how “country X” conducts business. What should your company know about customs in this country? Are there certain laws that will affect business? You must address how the employees your company will hire will view working as a team, setting up appointments, and conducting meetings and negotiations (example: do they have business dinners?). How will this country’s body language and concept of time affect your company? Address any topics or issues that interest you about country X and your company.

For this formal report, you must cite your sources and include a reference (APA) or works cited (MLA) page.

It will be single spaced — roughly 3-5 body pages. Please do not concern yourself with the number of pages. I look for the quality of the information and how you present it.

Your report will consist of the following:

Title Page — (see text p.225)

Abstract — (see text p.226)

Table of Contents — (see text p.227)

Introduction – (see example in sample report on page 230 in text) You may also find information in lecture notes (week 5).

Body — Your body section may look slightly different depending on what material you present. I look for the neatness of the presentation and how you organize it. You do not have to use the title that they used in the text; they may not be relevant to your topic. You will want to use headings that are appropriate for the items you are presenting about your specific country.
