Socialization is a life-long process and the mass media is one of the main agents in this process.  For this assignment watch children’s cartoons on television for an

hour or so and write an essay of no less than 500 words analyzing how gender roles are portrayed in the cartoons you watched. How do boys, girls, men, women behave?

What do they do?

Choose programs in which there are both male and female characters. Focus on one or two programs only.  Also report on the gender roles in the commercials shown during

the program.  Make sure to watch children’s cartoons, not South Park, The Simpsons, etc.
