3- Begin to understand how your family’s themes/ patterns may affect you as a beginning
practitioner
4- Understand the importance of constructing a genogram for/with your clients
5- Begin to understand the importance of identifying themes in your clients’ families
• After reading the material assigned on genograms and based on in-class information, construct a genogram reflecting three generations of your own family. (1-page)
• Compose a written summary of your family’s story to accompany the genogram.
• The story should include themes, tendencies, and patterns that you are beginning to see in your
family of origin.
• This assignment is no more than 6 pages (excluding the Genogram). • You will need to think clearly and write concisely.
