The goal of the assignment is twofold: 1. to have you look at how life events that have occurred, either with yourself, your family of origin or your extended family members and 2. to have you reflect on any relationship patterns, alliances or trends in your personal and family history.

a reflection that shows insight about family member dynamics – and provides an understanding about how changes or difficulties experienced by one member can have an affect on the entire system. Also, I encourage you to look at alliances, triangles and affiliations among family members. Think about the emotional energy that lives in the family and discuss multi-generational relationships (grandparents, great grandparents). For instance, does your parent’s relationship (or non-relationship) with their parents affect your relationships with either? What influences sibling relationships? How close are you to your first cousins? Why?
