Genre Comparative Analysis: Blogs

New media genres work to inform, persuade, and engage or even involve audiences on issues that are important to a particular discipline, profession, or community. New media genres such as Blogs and Podcasts are changing or adding to the ways in which people communicate about issues of concern—either with others in their communities or with the general public.

For a good introduction, read “New Media Writing Introduction,” by Joe Moxley at Writing Commons, found here: https://writingcommons.org/open-text/new-media
Assignment Instructions:
Write a 1-2 page essay where you compare/contrast and analyze Blogs and Podcasts to discern key features and better understand rhetorical purpose of those genre features on readers/audience members. Consider: Who is the audience for each? How do Blogs and Podcasts change and/or add to the ways in which people communicate about issues of concern –either with others in their communities or with the general public.
You should use a specific Blog and Podcast as outside sources to support your thesis.
Use MLA format and provide necessary in-text citations and a Works Cited page.
