Group Process Paper

Group Process Paper

Directions for Group Process Paper

Select a group of friends, coworkers, travel partners, sports team members, student classmates, former clinical groups, church groups, etc?a group size of approximately 5 members is ideal, but typically a range of 4 to 7 will work. It does not have to be a group of nurses, although some students prefer to select such a cluster of people. Be absolutely certain you are a group member, not an observer, because you will be applying group process theory. Do not mistakenly think that a group can go through Tuckman?s 5 stages in one work shift, as it is not possible, for the depth of the process requires time for relationships to mature & roles to be played.
Do not use real names, as you must protect confidentiality. You can provide nicknames or call them members A, B, C, D, or use any approach you prefer. Avoid the use of first person when writing except for the evaluation part when you are asked to provide an opinion. You may choose to say ?this author? if that approach helps, as you will find a style with which you are comfortable.
The ever helpful Blumkin-Kalman article discussed at orientation is posted to help you get started. Hint: it can be a reference for your paper.
