Report on the air quality in your area for SO2, NO2, mercury, CO, and particulate matter.

Discuss the consequences if these areas of air quality exceed their current standards.

Review the latest proposed air quality standards and compare the current air quality to the proposed standards.

Justify any significant differences you find. Use science principles to support your justifications.

If the current conditions are above the latest standards, suggest ways you can improve the air quality. Among the things you should consider are:
new versus existing air quality improvement technologies
costs of implementation and operation for new versus current technologies
health risk benefits associated with improved air quality versus current air quality.
If the current conditions are at the latest standards or below, suggest ways you can maintain these air quality standards. Among the things you should consider are:
whether current laws and policies are adequate to maintain the current air quality
i. the costs associated with maintaining this air quality and whether the costs can be lowered
ii. the health risk benefits associated with maintaining this air quality
As much as possible, try to incorporate some of the chemistry concepts about air quality and air pollutants and global environments (see chapters 4 and 11 in your

textbook). This should include the proper references and follow the American Psychological Association (APA) guideline for writing papers.
