1. The United State became an imperialist nation by taking over Native American lands, Mexico (its northern half), Hawaii, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Panama. What motivated the U.S., which itself had asserted its independence from British colonial rulers, to subjugate other people and lands?
2. Do you see this history of America imperialism defining what America is? Why, or why not?
