History and Hollywood

Students will have the opportunity to earn Bonus Points by watching two (2) movies previously approved by the professor.

In order to earn the bonus points, the students must print and complete the “Motion Picture Analysis Worksheet” form found under in the Extra Credit module on D2L.

You may complete and scan the document to the Extra Credit Dropbox, or submit the questions from the Analysis Worksheet in a separate document, and submit that to D2L drop box.

In addition, the student shall compose a comparative essay (approx. three paragraphs) for each movie in which you make a statement about the validity of the movie as an historical resource. What was true? What was false? How closely did Hollywood follow History? Did Hollywood help or hinder the study of this particular subject.

A well-thought out and well-written review encompassing the complete essence of the movie in an historical perspective will earn full points.

Poorly contested review sheets will earn lower points.

“Hollywood’ and “ET” type commentary is not acceptable

Feel free to suggest other titles for viewing. They must be historically representative and meaningful. “Bob and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and “Night at the Museum” for example are NOT acceptable
