According to statistics from the  The Straits Times, July 2010), 60 per cent of childhood
injuries were sustained at home, while 10 per cent of the accidents happened in the
playground. Similarly, among the elde rly, findings from Changi Hosp ital revealed that six in
ten falls happen at home (The Straits Times, August 2012).

Mr. and Mrs. Tan are busy, young entrepreneurs  building their own IT business. They spend
long hours at work in their ne w start-up company. They have two young children, a very
active and restless 5-year-old son and a 14-month  old daughter who is starting to walk.  Mr.
Tan’s 70 year old mother lives with them to help keep an eye on things at home. They had
just employed a new domestic helper as their previous helper had left them for another job.

a)   Describe the kinds of home accidents th at may occur with young children and the
