Background:
As an HSE Manager, you are required to ensure HSE performance. HSE management trends play a major role in any organisation, as do the characteristics of the workforce, leadership styles and behaviours, all of which can impact and drive safety actions to produce a sustainable change for a healthy, safe and productive.
For this assessment, you are required to develop a compelling HSE Business Case to convince Senior Management that investing in HSE is crucial for the overall business success, for a medium-sized construction company with 21-99 workers covered by the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012 – 2022.

Process:

Research the scope of your business case, giving consideration to what the need is and what information is required to support your business case.

Consider:
• Statistical data that could be used to support the case;
• Identify the priorities of your chosen business;
• Who are the stakeholders and what are their roles and responsibilities;
• Worker demographics and the workplace environment: older/ young workers, FIFO, isolated workplaces, high risk work and industry activities, LLN (language, literacy and numeracy) difficulties;
• Legal requirements
• What are the risks and how will these be managed;
• The approval process;
• How will your business case align with the strategic framework of the business and the sustainability of the business case?

Research relevant academic literature to assist you with developing your business case argument and proposed interventions.
