Assignment Description:
Choose two hotels in the hospitality industry (based on Hospitality and Tourism major) that have career information posted on their Web sites. Spend time reviewing the information provided about the careers at these companies and then prepare a critical evaluation of the type of information included. Discuss:
1. How much detail is provided? What information is presented regarding available openings? Describe how the websites provide information to the potential candidates about the corporate culture? How do the websites attract potential applicants? How do the companies describe the work environment or position to those viewing the site? What information is presented to applicants about the application and selection process?
2. What do the sites do particularly well? Explain how the things the sites do well impacts applicants. If you were a manager at each of these properties, describe at least 2 specific recommendations you would make to improve the quality of each of the sites and describe why those changes would help the property with recruitment and selection.
Find a job description posted for a job at one of the two hotels you investigated. Based on the job description and one specific hotel, complete the following activities.
1. Suggest three specific recruitment methods or sources your selected hotel could utilize to fill this open position. Discuss reasons why you recommend each specific recruitment method or source for this position.
2. Design a selection process to use for the initial screening and final screening of applicants. Select at least four different screening processes that applicants for the SPECIFIC POSITION you have identified would have to go through in the hiring process. Detail each of the four processes including what will be assessed and list the specific criteria used to evaluate the potential candidates. Indicate why each selection method included is appropriate for the specific position and for the hotel.

How insightful were the observations of the job postings of the companies? Was the discussion of the job posting strategic and related to text theories and concepts? Were text concepts referenced and described when explaining the recruitment strategies? Are the recommendations specific and directly related to the businesses? Do the recommendations show creative thinking and application of course concepts?
Recruitment and Selection (50%)
Do the suggestions for recruitment show creative thinking and application of course concepts?Is the selection process identified thorough, specific, and relevant to the position? Are the four selection processes and the evaluation criteria reasonable in context of the position, the specific task and the company? Is the discussion of selection and recruitment for the specific position relevant to the company identified? Did the discussion link directly to the text and class lecture?
Writing Proficiency – Spelling, Grammar, Presentation (20%)
