Dr. Sayre opens chapter 34 with a view of the world suddenly accelerating, moving according to industrial rather than natural time, at the start of the 20th century. He also refers to a loss of stability and security through new discoveries in physics.

Do you think we have undergone similar changes in the transition to the 21st century?

Write a comparison of the beginning of the two centuries (20th and 21st), based on (a) Sayre’s description and (b) your own thoughts of our time.
