Scenario
Imagine that last week you presented, to your Board of Directors, a decision analysis of a major decision problem that your organisation is facing. The decision can be real or imaginary.
Today, you received a memorandum from the Managing Director, copied to the Board, which expresses scepticism about your recommended decision and the underpinning analysis. Your Managing Director requests a full written justification and explanation of your recommendation. He argues that his, alternative, gut-feel is the better decision.
Assignment
Your assignment is to:
Prepare a written response to your Managing Director using an illustrative case example. The case example should be original and may be current, based on a decision facing an organisation for which you have worked in the past, or totally imaginary. (70 marks)
Provide a balanced appraisal of the advantages and limitations of the decision analytic approach. (30 marks)
