In-Groups and Out-Groups

Discuss the implications of the Sherif experiment and the Equal Status Contact Hypothesis (see Mini-Lecture 5) for racial and ethnic, gender, or other group relations in our society by doing the following:

Give examples of how some of our society’s current competitive arrangements and practices might encourage conflict or tension between groups (e.g., in education, the workplace, politics, etc.).
Using insights from the Equal Status Contact Hypothesis, suggest programs or policies that could be used to reduce intergroup conflict (i.e., what could we do in education, the workplace, or in the political arena to reduce tensions between groups?).https://edcc.instructure.com/courses/1498041/files/83526835/download?wrap=1
