For this assignment you write about the following topic related to how the creative industries work, and carry out detailed background

research using academic sources, industry publications and relevant web sources:

 How do creative media agencies or freelancers gain business?
After your initial research you are expected to visit a creative media company and interview or shadow an appropriate professional. The

purpose is to verify your initial research findings and refine them further.

It is your responsibility to find a suitable industry professional. There are several ways to do that:
 Attend an industry event there are regular informal meet ups of the Leeds creative community
 Contact agencies by telephone and email
 Use contacts you may have through family and friends
 Talk to one of the guest speakers from industry who deliver lectures throughout the module Remember to be polite and courteous at all

times.

On the basis of your conversations and background research, you will prepare a research report using academic writing techniques. It must

contain the following sections:
1. Title
2. Introduction A brief introduction to the topic area
3. Method Outline and justification for the methodology, i.e. how you’ve gone about the
research
4. Literature research what the academic literature has told you (citing references)
5. Industry engagement what the industry professional(s) have told you
6. Discussion Your interpretation of the results, set into context with what others think
7. References All sources, listed using the Harvard Referencing system (see Skills for Learning
site)
Your report should be around 1000 words in length (excluding references) and be without spelling or grammatical errors. Length deviations
