• Purpose: And informative speech is based on realistic factual matters destined to raise the informative and cultural level of listeners. In addition it should be based upon wide range of adequate and credible sources.

• The main aim is to gain a better understanding of the similarities, differences and connection between oral and written communication

• The language of and informative speech should be simple logical and brief.
Directions: Below is the selected topic. As well as the main points that you will need to talk about You will be writing a speech that is 7-8 minutes long when read out loud to an audience. The speech will talk about stem cells. The outline below is a step-by-step guide that will help you create the speech. The language of and informative speech should be simple logical and brief (For example, with regards to stem cells, if you are talking about an “embryo” an immediate brief definition of the word should follow thereafter.) Please assume that the audience is dumb and it is the first time they learn of this topic. What I need you to do is: Create an easy to read speech that can be easily memorized, read and explained. When I say easy, I do not mean 4th grade. This is college speech class so some level of sophistication and cleverness is required along with factual evidence about the topic. Basically you will be going along the outline below and create a speech using the format below. For example when starting with the thesis you can write it in away that the audience can relate to like “By the end of this speech you will be able to understand what stem cells are…this is only an example” or you can start with an “attention getter followed by the thesis and incorporate the rest of the speech harmoniously…I highly advise you do this!

DO NOT PERSUADE people to be against or with stem cells, JUST LAY DOWN THE FACTS “THIS IS AN INFORMATIVE SPEECH NOT A PERSUASIVE SPEECH. The audience will decide themselves if they are with or against the idea.

Finally, you are now able to start writing the speech. Please bear in mind that I will be reading the speech. That I will be using a visual aid as well while reading the speech you have written. That the speech will be sent back if there is any grammatical errors within the speech and if the speech does NOT FOLLOW THE RUBRIC ATTACHED BELLOW! I, myself will be grading the speech using the rubric below so I highly recommend you go through the rubric to see if there is anything else missed within the assignment instructions.
