6.Why is understanding the literary identity (or characteristics) of each Gospel important to interpreting the New Testament? Provide three examples from each of the

Gospels.

7.Based on Pamela Eisenbaum’s book, discuss why is it important to understand Paul’s Jewish background? Discuss three principles of the New Perspective on Paul that

challenges the traditional Christian interpretation on Paul?

8.Based on class lectures and readings, what is the best way to reconstruct Paul’s autobiography from the Pauline tradition? In other words, discuss the difference

from reconstructing Paul’s autobiography from Acts compared to Galatians for example.

9.Discuss why is it important to understand the form of the letter to understand Paul’s letters (authorized and unauthorized)? What are the three rhetorical species

discussed in class and the basic pattern of an ancient letter? Apply it to Galatians

10.What is Ethics of Interpretation? Apply its guiding questions in relation to Pamela Eisenbaum’s last chapter.
