The methodology will be regression analysis, where you regress this good’s consumption on income, in order to establish whether the regression coefficient on income is more than 1.
Don’t feel like you have to use Econometrics though – the dissertation can be purely theoretical, but it cannot be descriptive. I.e. it cannot be like a big literature review; you need to perform your own formal analysis.
Data for methodology has to include at least 40 time periods.
The next step will be to find a research article which is closely related to your research topic (and to your methodology), as your module handbook suggests.
I´ve chosen a health care but I can still change the topic. So if you think that there is not enough material on this topic done then it could be changed, but I think that there´s a lot of academic papers done in this area. ..
