Is there a Scenario where there can be no Benefits from Trade?
Yes, there can be a scenario when the combined output in the self-sufficiency case is equal to the combined output of comparative advantage case. When the PPF (Production Possibility Frontier) of both the economic agents is the same, there will be no benefits from trade. In this case, both the firms have identical opportunity cost ratios and in turn neither of the economic agents have a comparative advantage in either of the goods. So the combined output from both the cases are equal.
