Kagemusha: The Shadow Warrior

Introduction: Set between the years 1572 and 1575, the story describes the process of the unification of Japan during the period of the Warring States or the Sengoku

Period [ 1467-1615]. It introduces the three major contenders for power. In the west it was the Oda clan led by the young ruler Nobunaga. The central region was home

to the Takeda clan, ruled by Shingen. In the east was another young ruler, from the Tokugawa clan, Ieyasu. By the end of this film, it would appear that Oda Nobunaga

has triumphed by winning the battle of Nagashino in 1575. However, Nobunaga will be assassinated and then the Tokugawa will eventually unite most of the country after

the battle of Seikigahara in 1600.
