At any time, there will be one kind of IT that is obsolescent, and another that is gaining prominence. For example, recently the have been media reports that laptop technology might be obsolete within five years, while various forms of smaller, handheld technology might take its place.

Write a two-page memo that describes a technology that appears to be losing popularity, and another that seems to be taking its place or simply becoming more attractive to consumers in its own right. You may describe technologies that are connected in purpose, such as the laptop/handheld example given above; or you may describe two completely separate kinds of technology, e.g. analogue televisions and credit card chip technology.

Make sure that you include “Memo to / From / Date / Re” at the top, and feel free to use point form. Be clear and concise. Use your imagination.
