Robert is a doctor who specializes in family medicine. Susan consulted him, and he diagnosed her as having a brain tumour. He suggested that he should operate on her and she agreed even though she knew that he was not a specialist brain surgeon. He was unable to remove the tumour without doing serous damage to other parts of Susan’s brain. Susan is now permanantly disabled. An expert brain surgeon said that the success rate for such an operation among highly qualified brain surgeons was 75%.
