Leadership and Decision-making

Leadership and Decision-making
Being a team member involves being part of a decision-making process. Sometimes those decisions can be difficult because personal beliefs emerge and can inhibit decision-making. As a leader, you are expected to use your leadership competencies and skills to help the team’s decision-making. If you do not provide this leadership, then emotions begin to takeover and conflict can occur. Sometimes your decisions must occur quickly because time is of the essence; this is when your leadership skills can be truly tested.
Dear writer for this paperyou have been placed into imaginary (fictional) teams of 4-5, your task is to rescue a group of six people in a cave.

Please, answer the following questions:
1. Finalize your rescue plan. Then, follow up with personal notes that include the following:
o List, in order of rescue, the 6 trapped individuals.
o Evaluate the reasoning for your decision on the ranked order of rescue.
o Analyze your dynamics at making this decision:
o If you would work in the team to rescue these people, do you think appointing a leader have enhanced the process? Explain how so or how not.
o Assess how effective your Fictional Rescue Team was reaching a decision, on a scale of one to five (one being poor and five being excellent); did you reach consensus? Attribute your rating to what you’ve learned about team dynamics, from a leader’s perspective.
o Compare and contrast the team behaviors of encouraging and blocking communication and/or consensus.
