LEADERSHIP & CHANGE MGT
In 2012, a top engineer from Google, Marissa Mayer, took over as the CEO of faltering internet giant, Yahoo. Since then, she has moved rapidly to change the organization’s structure, strategy, and culture. Below are two links: The first is to a a New York Times article that discusses Ms. Mayer’s move to end the popular practice of work-from-home at Yahoo. The second is a Business Week article that provides a more in-depth consideration of what Ms. Mayer is doing and what she is up against.

Questions:

1. Use the rational approach to organizational change from Chapter 14 (C= D x M x P > R) to assess the likelihood that change will be successful at Yahoo.

2. Do you consider Marissa Mayer to be a transformational leader or a transactional leader? Please explain your answer.
