Decide on one topic that you would like to investigate for your Literacy Theory Project.
The topic that I would like is: English Language Learners and Literacy.
The reason I chose this topic is I teach K-6 ELL students all at different learning levels. Most of them are from Myanmar, Iraq, Mexico, and Thailand.
Directions: You must use seven to ten resources in your research, five of which must be journal articles. You must cite each of your resources in your project as your References. Please use APA style.
Write a paper in which you create an opening paragraph, which states the purpose of the paper. Then summarize at least three main points that you discovered in your research. Be sure to include authors’/theorists’ names and the years they published their ideas or the source from which you got the ideas. Discuss the historical background including a summary of the important ideas, materials, instructional practices, role of the teacher, and role of the student for this theory.
Write a closing paragraph in which you briefly summarize the theory and relate the main points to your own teaching and learning. Be sure to give your personal opinion of the theory, explaining why you think as you do.
