Local Environmental Health Issues

To prepare for this Discussion, read Chapters 12, 13, and 14 of the course text. Review the PowerPoint presentations and media presentation “Waste Management.”

Review your local news media sources to identify one issue affecting your region in each of the following environmental health areas: occupational health, unintentional injury, and waste management. Consider how federal guidelines (i.e., EPA, OSHA) or laws affect the issue you identified.
Post a brief description of an issue affecting your region (California) in each of the following environmental health areas: occupational health, unintentional injury, and waste management.
Then, describe one key insight or challenge with regard to each of these issues, and connect your observations to this week’s readings.
Finally, summarize how these issues currently affect or have affected the public’s health and/or you.
