The assignment for Logistics and Operations Management [LOM] requires you to select a specific topic within these areas of expertise and to apply the theoretical and practical insights from the literature to a case study of a particular industry or individual organisation. You may either demonstrate the benefits of good practice by using an exemplar organisation or you may wish to demonstrate how a poorly performing case would benefit from closer adherence to theoretically derived and practically informed processes. Your case[s] may be global or domestic.

Within that general brief you should also address the following points:
Give a clear explanation of the theoretical and practical issues involved in your chosen topic
Conduct a critical analysis of the characteristics of the above
Identify and critically evaluate any models, analytical tools or techniques that you intend to use in your case study
Introduce your chosen case and explore either – why the operation is so successful, or; what advantages would accrue from employing suitable processes
Writing conventions

The paper should be in an academic format. You may include an abstract of the paper but this will not count towards the word-count. The paper should be 5000 +/- 500 words in length, typed in Times New Roman 12 point and be double spaced throughout.
You must show that you understand and can apply extant theory but be critical rather than simply accepting of what you read by other authors.
You must cite all sources on which you have relied [text books, academic papers, practitioner papers.
You can use models, diagrams, tables etc to illustrate your work but these must be properly cited.

Does your final sentence provide a strong and concise ending to the essay?
